In this advanced level set of courses, students will utilize the information gained in Sculpture to expand their creative exploration using the tools, techniques, and concepts in three-dimensional art. Students will investigate artists working in three dimensions to provide an understanding of art history, inspiration, and an understanding of how artists contribute to culture and society. Work is focused on the students’ vision utilizing originality and creative problem solving to develop their portfolio of work and an emphasis on producing advanced sculptural and craft design art works using a variety of media. Instruction will allow students to further develop their artistic voice in three-dimensional media, while exploring techniques that are of individual interest. Student driven media selections may include the following: books arts, clay, metal, plaster, fibers, found object, papier-mâché, stone, and installation. Through critique and discussion students will continue use of communication skills and an understanding of Art as a visual language.
